Art Shane

Shane is an original and distinctive contemporary artist. His unique and instantly recognisable style has met with an extraordinary response and is enthusiastically collected.

Hemp uses one of the oldest natural fibres for a bright white natural tone. The lightly textured surface gives the paper a pleasant, silky feel. The depth of the black stands out and contrasts are reproduced with stunning effect.

Between 1988 and 2005 while travelling to gigs or working at them – if I found a cassette tape sprawled out discarded on the side of the road

I would use the tape as a stencil and create a middle of the road artwork.

The band or festival I was going to didn't matter – the music on the tape didn't matter. I just left a small semi-permanent stenciled artwork on the side of the road.

I did this 23 times – and then ended the project.

These artworks are a creative reinterpretation of that idea, but limited to 13 individual works and an artist's proof.
